Meet Junior Mint

Junior Mint Gershman
Embraces Medical Tourism

Junior  Mint was adopted almsot two years ago from a Doxie Shelter in Bonita, California. He was already named Junior and was eight years old, so I could not change his name as I wanted to. I figured since I already had one candy (Toffee), I could at least call him Junior Mint on his papers. Junior is a long-haired dachshund like Toffee.  They are about the same size, known as a 'tweenie'. He loves to walk on his leash, poop in the yard and cuddle with me. He's not doing so well in the car but he passed his first shopping adventure as a real trooper; he peed on the carpet at the nearby Neiman-Marcus outlet. He did so, he explained to me, because he was just so excited to be there.

Junior spent a life-changing month in Provence, began smoking Gauloise, wears his beret at a jaunty tilt and started to attack giant dogs in the market. His vet in San Diego, in San Antonio and in Provence all said it was imperative that he have major surgery to search and destory one of his testicles that was hidden in his abdominal cavity. In San Diego, the vet said this would cost about $1800. In San Antonio, the estimate was between $1000 and $1200. So Junie has his surgery in Provence where the bill was under $300 USD and the recovery was one week. He has no scar; his pubic fur has re-grown and he's more healthy than ever. Also fatter. Like the castrati, he sings better and has become chubby. He'll be ten years old a few days after Christmas and murmurs 'viva la france' before he dozes off to snore-land each night.
