C ' mon Down...

Bienvenue a ma maison.
I bought a little house in Vaison-la-Romaine, a village in the northern part of Vaucluse in Provence about ten years ago and I hav eloved it and nurtured it. I don't want to brag about my village, and no, Peter Mayle does not live here nor did he ever live here, but several famous people are in town and in the nearby hills and vineyards and yes, Patricia and Walter Wells live in the same village so that if you are attending classes, my home is ideal. Now that I plan to move to Napa, I find that it's just too difficult to manage the house and to commute back and forth. I will have a rental season for summer 2010 but am also putting the house on the market in April 2010. I plan to sell it furnished, as essentially a turn-key operation. If you are interested before I list it with a broker, we can save $$$.
The house is a two bedroom, two bath townhouse in the heart of town-- you can walk everywhere. It overlooks 2,000 year old Roman ruins (honest) since Vaison is known for these ruins; various French tourists wander by during the summer. You are also a short walk from the cathedral and the main square. Vaison is one of those cities with an upper and lower village; you can walk to the upper village if your legs are strong enough. I live in the lower village, right in the thick of things-- a few doors from the post office and one block from the town's main drag.
You'll want a car for getting around to other villages, the nearest of which are Nyons, Orange and Seguret. You are one hour north of Marseille and two hours south of Lyon. Market day is Tuesday; this is one of the most famous (and large) markets in Provence. Pizza Night is on Sundays in nearby Villedieu.
The house easily and comfortably sleeps four in two bedrooms-- there's a French queen sized bed in the master and two American twin beds which are together as a king but can be made up as twins. Additionally there's twin beds in the main salon-- this is a great place for kids-- so the house can sleep six.
There are two full bathrooms. The house is basically new inside; there are no crazy French appliances or contraptions to try to grasp. There's washer and dryer, dishwasher, microwave, full size fridge, separate freezer unit and plenty of Ralph Lauren sheets and towels.
There is a small terrace with table and chairs; there are ceiling fans in each of the rooms plus additional fans if needed and an R2D2 air conditioning unit on wheels. There's TVs, DVD machines and old fashioned VCR's with plenty of movies in English and a full library of books in English as well as regional guidebooks for reference.  There are phones in each room and there is a computer with a QWERTY keyboard.  I have one of those TV's with a large, flat LCD screen that gets a million channels and the phone system that allows you to call anywhere in the world for free. The house is fully stocked with all the cute you could want from dishes to cookware to linens and boutis. Geraniums in the window boxes? Bien sur.
Yes, small dogs are welcome. There is a crib, so babies are welcome too.
Please note that the house does not have wifi and cannot because of its low location in the city. I simply go up to the twon square, two blocks away, and prende une verre (2 euros) and use the free internet connections.
The house is available for rent  any time this winter until April 15, then from May 1 until June 15 and then beginning July 1, 2010. Because the house now has heat, I can book thoughout the year. There is a supplement for electricity in months that require heat (ie Xmas and New Years hols, etc.) I am in residence in April and in June.
I rent the house in euros now, with a two week minimum (2000 euros/two weeks in high season, May through September). But the good news is that I discount longer stays, so a four week stay costs 3,000 euros in high season. For winter and holiday rates,  please contact me at suzygershman@gmail.com.
