Where to Buy the Best of Everything

Don't look now, but I have begun a new series - or maybe a life long job that piggybacks my interests in Born to Shop. But please note: this is not a Born to Shop guide.

Born to Shop guides are essentially travel guides and they are always destination oriented. Where to Buy the Best of Everything is a large book that is merchandise and brand specific; it includes more than 150 different cities around the world, but is about stuff - and how to buy it.

This book is not a compilation of Born to Shop listings or a merge of my data base. In fact, I have no data base. Most of the listings in Where to Buy do not appear in a Born to Shop guide. All of the material is original and the only true crossover is my intent to inform. And, along the way, to maybe entertain.

We all know that 'best' is subjective at, uh, best so the book has 16 chapters packed with what I consider the best - the best at what they do, be it luxury or low-end. This is not a list of the Chanel and Cartier stores in the world but more a search for little mom and pop business, artists and artisans and little known or traveled shopping streets that thrill and delight.

I worked on this book for three years; it was published April 14, 2008 in honor of my BIG birthday. Don't look now, but Amazon has an amazing discount offer.
